Waltham Forest: Digital Skills
In partnership with the Cisco Networking Academy, the London Borough of Waltham Forest has put together a series of free, self-paced training courses for residents across the Borough. The goal of this initiative is to enable residents to acquire basic digital skills, whilst also giving students a unique insight into the working world of IT.
How does it work?
We have created a series of courses covering cybersecurity, networking, and other important digital topics. Each course can be found below, including:

To enrol in any of the outlined courses, simply click on the link provided. You will then need to follow the steps to create an account, which should only take a couple of minutes. All courses are free, self-paced, and mobile-friendly. There is no limit on the number of courses you wish to enrol in, and no limit on the time you have to complete each course.
At the end of each course, learners will be asked to complete an end of course exam (completed in their own time on their own device). If they score over 70%, they will receive a Digital Badge for that course to verify completion. This can be added to a LinkedIn profile, CV, or other relevant sites and can help boost employability prospects.
Introductory Courses
English for IT 1 and 2
Estimated duration: 50 hours (each)
Target audience: Learners who want to improve their English language skills in an IT context
Overview: This is the first of two courses that together teach English in the context of IT for those interested in working in or desiring to work in IT. The course focuses on essential terminology and phrases used in the industry. The learner will gain upper-intermediate level language skills and prepare for the English for IT B2 / GSE 59-75 certification exam. English for IT is designed to equip learners with the English language skills necessary to thrive in the fast-paced world of technology. This course combines grammar, vocabulary, reading, and listening exercises, with a focus on essential terminology and phrases used in IT.

Introduction to Cybersecurity
